On June 15th, 2015, in City Hall I was elected unopposed as Mayor of Galway

On June 15th, 2015, in City Hall I was elected unopposed as Mayor of the City of Galway. A great honour for me and my family. The first Menlo native to hold the office since the early 1600 when the landlord Blakes one of the Tribes are believed to have been Mayor. I thank my fellow Councillors for their unanimous support. I am very thankful for all the positive comments and messages that I have received over the last few days.I will represent the people of Galway without fear or favour and work to make our City a great place to live and work. Thanks to all my family friends and neighbours who joined us last night in city hall and the Menlo Park Hotel where the staff and management pulled out all the stops to make it a wonderful night for all. The Menlo Park as always do a fantastic job and have been very supportive of me since i entered public life. I would like to thank all the volunteers that I have worked with over the last 4 years. You are a fantastic breed of people and I admire you and thank you.
