Delighted that all 14 of my Cllr colleagues supported my motion this evening to begin the process of removing the proposed bus corridor from the Galway City Development Plan. It has been an objective of our Dev Plan since 2005. I have opposed it since becoming a Cllr in March 2011. Thanks to Caroline, Colin, Peter and Noel and all the Friends of Merlin Woods for all the hard work and support in progressing this project. Officials will now prepare reports and it will go out on public display and come back before Cllrs Probably next spring. A new council will have been elected by then and I hope that I will be re elected to ensure that this is finally removed from the City Development Plan. Future generations of Galwegians will thank us for saving Merlin Woods.
